My short story “Numen” has been accepted to appear in the second volume of the CELLAR DOOR anthology. One of the requirements was for it to have a beautiful word or phrase for its title. Numen is a latin term meaning “The presiding divinity or spirit of a place”.
Did you know what the word meant before you started the story?
I did not. The story went through multiple title changes throughout the process. “The Dead Prince”, “The Masterpiece”,etc. After doing some edits on it, I had to add a section and came across the word while researching. It ended up both in the story and as the title on the last night before I sent it in.
Interesting. Things take on a life of their own while writing.
