NIGHTMARE ABBEY MAGAZINE has risen yet again to gleefully haunt those areas of your mind which crave the macabre. Every guest room has been filled by returning favorites as well as some new initiates. One of those new to The Abbey happens to be a personal favorite of mine in the form of legendary horror scribe Reggie Oliver. I’m excited to read his brand story, Sad Gardens. Keeping Reggie company in the Table of Contents for this issue are Tom Johnson, Sean Hogan, Simon Bestwick, Steve Duffy, Steve Rasnic Tem, Helen Grant, John Llewellyn Probert (both with a new story and a new installment of his Cinema Crypt movie review column), Stephen Volk, Michael Kelly, Benjamin Kurt Unsworth, Charles Wilkinson, John M. Navroth (continuing his look a The Hideous History of American Horror Comics feature) as well as an introduction by Editor Tom English (or does his usual Dear Abbey hosting job get usurped by an unexpected visitor this time around?). Artist extraordinaire Allen K’s work is featured throughout as he gives us a face-to-face look at things more at ease lurking after us in the shadows.
I’m back as well with a new installment of my column, Matt Cowan’s Horror Delve. This time I list what I feel are the thirteen scariest short horror fiction to have been published before the start of World War I. I had a fun putting this list together and plan for part two to appear in issue 11 where I’ll list 13 more, but only ones published after WWI instead.
