I just wanted to drop a quick addendum to a previous post where I listed my top 16 supernatural-themed tv shows https://horrordelve.com/2014/09/06/matt-cowans-top-sixteen-supernatural-themed-tv-series/. I included FX’s The Strain on that list even though it was relatively new at the time. Now well into it’s second season, I feel even stronger that it earned its spot. I’m generally not a huge fan of vampire films or stories because they often seem to rehash so many tired tropes. I love the fact that The Strain’s vampires are hideous rather than alluring and that they’re capable of having diverse histories and motivations. It’s definitely a pulpy show pitting a rag-tag band of humans against a powerful vampire master and his minions who’re orchestrating an apocalypse that threatens to overwhelm the world. Simply put, I find it a fun horror-adventure show that always has me looking forward to the next episode.
